NORTH FLORIDA

Safe Families of North Florida
Safe Families North Florida is focused on engaging communities in the Big Bend and Panhandle areas of Florida – approximately from Live Oak to Pensacola. Our main office is located in Tallahassee, and has been since 2018, where our foundational engagement has grown with churches, volunteers and families!
Safe Families North Florida began as a grassroots movement in 2017, to expand and extend the support to families in our community. The effort to raise support to launch a local chapter was led by Ann Connell and Laure Mulrooney – who worked tirelessly to bring the Safe Families model to the North Florida faith community with four initial churches committing their support. Today that has grown to over 40 churches and over 400 volunteers. The chapter still serves families, but also young adults who have been impacted by the child welfare system. The chapter also partners with many local organizations, but the parachurch organizations who first assisted with the launch remain some of our strongest partners – joining us in engaging the local church to be the light in our community. As we near our first decade of service in North Florida, we look forward to witnessing how the Lord will continue to use the people of faith in our community to keep children safe, and families together to the Glory of God!

Chapter Director
Cathy Campbell
Cathy and her husband Rob have raised their four children in Tallahassee for the last two decades. Being a part of the community was instrumental in their family’s health and well-being and so the mission of Safe Families resonated deeply with them. Cathy came to Safe Families in 2020 after a career as a social worker, stay-at-home parent, and non-profit entrepreneur.

Jon Nicholson
Farm Share Coordinator and Pastoral Care Coordinator
Jon and his amazing wife, Sarah, have hosted weekly food distributions in Tallahassee since 2019.
Over roughly two decades in ministry, Jon has cultivated relationships with countless churches and leaders across Tallahassee and the surrounding region. He loves bridging the gaps between ministries so they can—through strategic partnerships—multiply their effectiveness in their communities.
Jon specializes in organizing multi-church worship and prayer events, which he does regularly and under several different banners. He enjoys investing as much time as possible in his three energetic children.
Tammy Pulsifer
Engagement Director

Born in Tamuning Guam to the parents of foreign missionaries, Tammy got a clear picture of the needs of this world at an early age. Often working alongside her parents and seeing poverty first hand was something very common in her house growing up. Living in multiple countries and experiencing different cultures made a huge impact on her ability to empathize with people on many different levels. It was not uncommon to have an unhoused person at the dinner table or a single mom living in her parent’s home when a need was revealed.
She moved to Tallahassee in 1998. She was a teacher and has worked in the local philanthropic community of Leon County really began to thrive. Serving on several local councils made it an obvious choice to want to come alongside Safe Families for Children as a volunteer that eventually turned into a paid position on the SFFC North Florida Team.
Tina Ayers
Operations Coordinator,
Wakulla Community Coordinator

After 30+ years in Tallahassee where she met her husband (a Tallahassee native) and raised their three children, Tina considers Tallahassee home! Early in 2024, she was presented with the opportunity to work with Safe Families and jumped at the chance to be a part of their mission to serve the Tallahassee community. Her previous experience with volunteers serves her well as she works with Safe Families volunteers to help them complete the application process and become approved volunteers.
